Participating in the Girl Scout Cookie sale is lots of fun. One of the most important parts of the cookie sale is to stay safe when you're out selling cookies in a neighborhood or at a booth sale. Follow these simple rules for a safe and successful cookie activity:

elling with another person is a must. Always sell and deliver cookies with an adult. When you're selling in a public place, like a booth sale, adults must be present. And don't give your full name or phone number to anyone. Introduce yourself by your first name only. (You can give them your troop number along with the council number or your cookie adult's number as a contact.)

fter dark is a risky time to sell, even in a familiar neighborhood. Only sell during the daylight and stay out in the open.

requently hand money over to an adult to bank for you. Never carry large sums of cash around with you.

ntering a customer's house can be dangerous. Never go into a customer's house. If someone offers to lead you to another customer, never follow them behind buildings or into alleys.

raffic can be hazardous. Be careful crossing streets, and watch for cars backing out of driveways. Never approach cars to sell cookies, and never get into anyone's car.

ou can feel good about participating in the great American tradition of the Girl Scout Cookie activity, because in Girl Scouts, safety is never left to chance. Wear a uniform, sash or Girl Scout T-shirt to identify you as a Girl Scout and wear your Brownie Girl Scout or Girl Scout membership pin proudly when you're out selling!

Sung to the tune of “She’ll Be Coming Round the Mountain”

Girl Scouts are so careful,
Yes we are.
When we sell cookies
We stay safe as can be.
Our folks give their permission
In writing, so we turn in
Those signed slips to our leader
and begin.

We sell cookies with a buddy,
Or a grown-up.
We never go door-to-door
All alone.
We watch out for all traffic
When we’re crossing any street
And obey every signals
That we see.

We always sell in the day time
Not at night.
We don’t carry lots of money
Where we go.
We never approach a stranger’s car
We don’t go into people’s houses
We stay outside on the doorstep
To be safe.
